Aboriginal Interactive Media Training Initiatives

Through a diverse field of study, the student/interns of 2005 were involved in a fair number of activities, many of which focused on HCF (Heritage Community Foundation) related projects.

In 2004 most activities were website based, working through HTML and Photoshop mainly. They worked on several existing HCF websites as well as new projects including The Arlington and Edmonton Community Dance websites.

As their work diversified, different student/interns participated on various projects including The Métis in Alberta web launch, elements of Albertasource.ca and even a centennial prototype for Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.

With the addition of flash, the ability to create interactive media increased in 2005 and the students all made unique movies with the technology. With that knowledge they moved on to create one minute vignettes; The first of which concentrated on Alex Decoteau and Nature's Laws.

Other projects were introduced that pushed the capabilities of the student/interns. With the aid of our staff we were able to put together designs outside the scope of the program. A prevent diabetes poster and centennial logo were concieved by the students and refined by our senior graphic designer for production. Each of their nametags are personalized with their own designs as well.
